Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her marine biology education at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard started her professional career in the field of commercial seafood worker in 1999. She began to work at the vessel F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner that was turned into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan. She had been working in commercial fishing since. Bossard has been is married to Aritan and they have joined together to assert their claims to the industry. Both are advocates of conserving renewable and sustainable seafood resources. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor that was started in Philadelphia in 2007 by a now-mother of two young children: Bella aged 3, and Andre aged 1. In 2007, Bossard a mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada opened otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Since July of 2016, Bossard and her daughter Isabella age 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 are back in Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the summer wild salmon harvest. For two months, Bossard and Isabella utilize hooks and lines to fish for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their catch to local processors.
